Understand soil science’s role in crop husbandry, soil types, characteristics, and mineral soil composition.
Outcome 2: Inorganic Fractions
Learn about mechanical analysis, soil texture, soil sampling, rock types, and the origin of sand, silt, clay, and salts.
Outcome 3: Soil Properties
Identify properties of sand, silt, clay, soil acidity, and base exchange.

Understand the principles of organic matter, including its origin, breakdown, carbon and nitrogen cycles, and its impact on soil structure.
